We have numerous back country lakes to choose from with several different species of trout to fish for. These remote and scenic lakes see very little pressure and hold good numbers of fish. Our operating are contains lakes that hold Cutthroat, Rainbow, Brook, Bull, and the highly sought after Golden Trout.
The Idaho department of fish and game has participated in a back country lake stocking program for many years now. They air drop different species into these high mountain lakes at different yearly rotations. A great advantage to us, they provide info on how many, as well as when and where they do this. This allows us to know which years a certain lake will most likely have bigger fish or have numbers of fish.
In certain lakes fisherman have caught 18 to 24 inch Cutthroat although in general guys are catching Cutthroats 12 to 16 inches. The same goes for the Rainbows in the area. Some of the better fly fisherman have caught Bull trout up to 30 inches with an average size of 14 to 20 inches. The Bull trout is a protected fish and may not be purposely fished for or taken out of the water, but some of the better fly fisherman have incidentally caught and released, unharmed, Bull trout up to 30 inches with an average size of 14 to 20 inches. The Goldens generally run around 10 to 12 with a handful around 18 inchers. We have taken all types of fisherman, everybody from kids using spinning rods to serious fly fisherman. We can do day trips as well as multi species, multi day trips visiting different lakes.
What to BrYou bring your own fishing gear and we will provide you with info on what have been the best lakes for certain species and the particular experience you are looking for. We can do everything from overnight trips to progressive trips where you are in a new spot each day or every other day.
In the past we have enjoyed trips with father and sons, husbands and wives, and groups of friends. Typically we limit the group to 4 people, but with notice we may be able to accommodate more.
This may be the most economical way to take advantage of our services, but does sometimes require physically demanding hikes on your part. Pack support is a great option for a group of Do-it-yourself type people looking to get away from it all, would like a few extras, but don’t want to carry an 80lb backpack. Basically we drop your gear where you want and you hike in.
